Dogs on the Backs of Utes 4

This is Boof.

I met this gentle giant yesterday, in Darwin in the Northern Territory. His owner got him after he proved totally unsuited to life as a pig dog. He’s a lovely boy who has slowly recovered from his time as a failed hunter.

Boof has just got back from a trip out bush to Milingimbi in Arnhem Land, 440km East of Darwin where he picked up a lot of ticks. Like all dogs he’s just happy to go everywhere with his owner.

This is how I first saw Boof. On a hot day it’s good to feel the wind on your face. Luckily his ute turned off the Stuart Highway and stopped, so I was able to meet him in person rather than only admire him from a moving vehicle. Because of his size, most people give him a wide berth. But if you are up for it, he’ll slobber all over you.
