Dogs on the Backs of Utes 13

I always feel a twinge of concern for dogs on the backs of tray tops. Surely it must be scary up there, especially when the ute is going fast on a bumpy bush road.  And the old rubber mining conveyor belt used to line the tray on this vehicle looks way too smooth and slippery to me…

So if I were a cattle dog, I don’t think I’d be as serene as this handsome fellow waiting for his driver in the main street of Scone.

Of course, he didn’t want to make eye contact with me, which is perfectly natural and shows what a calm and submissive boy he is. Lovely.

But when the ute took off, he brightened up immediately and was clearly excited to be off! Happy as can be.

It is dangerous though…
